Computer Pranks
I have seen programs such as "nice.exe" and "happy.exe" that basically do not allow you to close your cd tray. Once you close it, the program will reopen it again and again. Easy to get rid of, just Ctrl+Alt+Del and end the application "Hahaha"
It is pretty funny to use on computer noobs. I also saw a program called Remote Havoc, which essentially is a program you install onto someones computer and then you can have complete control over it (opening the cd tray, going to random websites, shutting down his computer, moving his mouse around) I was able to get happy.exe and nice.exe but was unable to get the Remote Havoc to work. Anyone know of a similar program that does the same thing? |
Sounds like your trying to put a trojan on someones computer, and I'm pretty sure that's not legal. Don't even bother to do anything like that. It seems like fun but you can get in a lot of trouble, plus a virus scanner will probably neutrelize it right away.
If you want to ignore what I said, there are programs out there like netbus, subseven and backorifice that do what you want. I haven't done it in years so there may be newer ones. |

If he's doing it to a friend, what's the big deal? Who's gonna turn him in?
|
yeah, that's a trojan all right.
me and a friend were messin around w/ one called sub7. u could flip the screen, open up cd tray, send stuff to printer and lots of stuff. and oh yeah, u can freeze the screen and pop up a tic tac toe screen and make 'me play! |
I would be careful with installing trojans.. If this is a workplace, avoid this.. It is an easy way to quickly get canned. Trojans not only give you a backdoor into the system, but also anyone else randomly scanning through.
for some reason, most work places have a problem with giving anyone on the outside complete access to a system on the inside *shrugs*.. go figure.. *grin* |
Meh, fancy programs like that will get you in trouble.
A prank should be something fun(ny). Like, do this: 1.) Goto victim's computer and get to the desktop with no windows showing and no cursor (move it to the corner). 2.) Press Print Screen. This will copy the image on the screen to the clipboard. 3.) Open Paint and paste the image. Now save that as Desktop.bmp or something. 4.) Set the Wallpaper image as Desktop.bmp. 5.) Right click on the desktop and uncheck Show Desktop Icons. Now, the wallpaper looks like their desktop with icons, but the icons aren't really there, so they click on them and nothing happens and they freak out. It's fun and safe! |
good prank smiling bob, but you forgot one thing. you have to tell the screen saver to ignore mouse movements, else soon as they try to click on anything, the screen saver disengages.
|
uh, what does the screen saver have anything to do with that prank...
i think you may have misunderstood... eh, if you have 2 computers next to eachother. just swap the monitor, mouse and keyboard cables. everything will be fine till someone gets up and turns off the computer in front of them. the person next to them will be like WTF! |

his cursor around, that's a no-brainer. But actually moving the mouse -- wow, spooky. |

doh! I read wallpaper as screen saver. guess I was tired. anyway, you could do that with the screen saver too, if you know how to make a screen saver. |
Open the Mouse Control Panel and swap the buttons.
It's the digital equivalent of shutting the gas petcock on a buddy's motorcycle while he's not looking. |
here is the best prank i have ever done or seen... take a screenshot of the desktop (print screen) with icons and all on it. Set that picture as there desktop wallpaper, then hide all icons... looks like the icons are still there, but when you click on them it does nothing.... harmless but can be frustrating to people, fun to watch them reboot several times to try and get it working....
give it a try sometime |
someone at work decided to recode key parts of dos to make it fail a lot on disk accesses, then forgot about it after they installed it on victims PC, and then was late for work in the morning, by which point we'd already formatted the drive afer a lot of umming and ahhhing. lost a lot of source code, i think the project was elite at the time. the prank player was part owner so he got away with it, unfortunately he was a stickler and had coded it extremely well.

Just remember---some of us don't get mad---we just get even....
and in TEXAS that could get you ....:D |

Trojans are a bit serious, any trogan is illegal which is why virus scanners catch them. The desktop one works well. There's other ones like download a program like gator and they will have ads forever until they realize it. Or change the homepage to some nasty fetish site. ex: scatlovers.com or nastygrannies.com Both mostly harmless, the adware program can be easily deleted with a program like ad-aware.
|
i guess a similar program u are looking for is called bo2k, its pretty much a server client program that gives u total access to another computer... by total i mean full privilages as in reformat/delete files/registry....
the program in itself is not illegal but because its free and used by some hackers has a very dodgy reputation. there are programs like pcanywhere which do the exact same thing but these u have to buy from a shop like pcworld and therefore have a good reputation. i personally wouldn't recommend using bo2k, and in any case, every decent anti-virus program will pick it up straight away and delete it. |
One day, when I was about, oh 10 years old maybe, my family and I made a trip to Sears for some reason or another. I got bored and wandered to the computer section and found a computer to mess around with.
For fun, I went into Windows' control panel (had to be Windows 3.1 or something), into the colors section, and made every available color some grotesque neon pink. Fonts and everything. Minus a few artifacts here and there, everything on the screen was the same eye-shattering color. Proud of my accomplishment, I went back to find my parents. As we were leaving the store, we pass by the computer section, and I see some employee systematically clicking on every inch of the screen, trying to make his way to the control panel/colors dialog. I think he was there for a while. :D |
The best prank I have done so far:
I live in a house with 3 other people. Well I have total control over the router.......so I just start banning ip addresses...total fun and can really piss people off :) |
read one today, get a 'clapper' and put in the PC's power strip or the monitor
. |
Not computer related, but a friend put clear tape on my telephone hangup release button. So when my phone rang, i picked up, and that sucker kept ringing.
|
Sometimes just turning off your buddy's computer when he's not looking is a fun prank. That and unplugging monitors, a mouse, keyboard, ect.
|
oh oh you can download a program from microsoft's website to make custom keyboard layouts. So, for example, instead of the letter 'Z' coming up when you hit the 'Z' button, you can make whatever character you want appear. Changing a few letters around, perhaps making a common word they would type come up as "cunt" would be fun.
|
break their Warcraft 3 CD in half and put in bed besid ethem, so that they wake up to his horrifying act.
|
The best ever: mess with spell check. Make it auto correct words like "the" or "is" . You can seriously mess with soemoen's head escpecially when they type a paper. My friend did it on someone's PC once and when he typed, all the "the" turned into "penis".
|
I have done the autocorrect several times. Hilarious each time also. Sometimes its nice though to have words they would not use regularly, like another, and change it to aonther. Essentially, reverse the autocorrect settings. Instead of teh into the, the into teh. Instead of nad into and, and into nad. Instead of i into I, I into i. If you do that on a lot of words it will piss them them off to no end.

When I was pulling desktop support duties a few years back...we all had roaming profiles.
I placed this movie of Charlie Brown breaking Peppermint Patty down shot gun style to the music of James Brown's I feel good, in one of my collegues roaming 'startup' folder. Everytime he logged onto someone's workstation to provide 'desktop' support the clip would run... EEEEEOOOOOOOOOWWWE, I feel good....duh-nah, duh-nah, duh I showed him what I had done after a few days... I still bust out in stiches when I think of that prank. Goooood time...good times. -bear |
I think I like the phone-ringing-forever one best. Low-tech is still the funniest to me !
I'll mention the obvious, turning down the monitor brightness so it looks dead. (contributed for old-times sake.) |
