Need Help too see JAVA
Hi all!
I havent found a good forum to get info on this but I will try here and see if anyone has any ideas Both of the computers on my home network stopped displaying Java. I have attempted to go to Sun and download the files and it Error's out each time. I have tried to uninstall the Java on my computers and it just flashes the screen fast but nothing happens. It feels like some sorta viruss or something but I have recent norton installed and always update it. Any help would be awesome... the wife is very sad about not being able to load pogo games! |
an applet in in your browser? or a standalone java application
|
first step open a cmd prompt and type java -version
should say something like java version "1.4.2" Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.2-b28) Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.2-b28, mixed mode) if not itll give some other message, if the java.exe isnt found the path environment is screwed up, if the runtime isn't found the classpath or the java registry is screwy try uninstalling all the java stuff you can see in the control panel and then reinstalling it, but use the cmd prompt instead of double clicking it ( start / run ) type cmd "enter" to get to a cmd prompt |
Yeah it says almost the same thing as yours said, but is one build lower, (1.4.1) I cannot uninstall as is now, just freezes up, can install over it says there was a network error while installing the files
|
and yes it is a applet in browser not stand alone, specifically pogo games, but anything that uses Java shows up as action cancelled on my screen
|
turn on the java console logging in IE under the advanced options see if it gives you any clues
|
I have logging on, cant see anythign there... I have installed and ran both Adaware and Spybot as well as Norton.. nothing!
