Need computer help: finding device for Cerebral Palsy Aid

Howdy all,

I am looking for a device or software of some kind that can help a person with poor dexterity access icons in differant programs, Microsoft and others. This person refuses to use Dragon Naturally Speaking (Voice recognition).

So anything from eye control to some fancy mouse any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you in advance,

Logitech makes a series of track balls for people with mobility issues. There recognizable because ATT uses the same trackballs for the kiosks in their stores.
The ball is about 4" in diameter so that the palm of the hand may cusp the trackball instead of using ones fingertips. There best for people with arthritis and such, and as you didn't describe the specific mobility issue confronting this patient, i can't honestly tell you if this is what you may be seeking.
Hope this helps.

Perhaps a touch screen with enlarged resolution is in order as an alternative?

If the person has enough motor control, the giant trackballs are probably the best option.

Eye trackers are sort of a last resort because you can only use them for 15min. or so at a time -- they can be quite exhausting. Getting one set up without assistance from some sort of nonprofit would probably also cost a lot more than a giant trackball.

thanks for your suggestions

I found a way to get rid of the mouse altogether, i am thinking it might be best to go with a touchscreen.

Found a place that has some great ones.

hopefully this works, I could not find any eye trackers, if you have a sight i would love to see it.

Hey dude, I don't know the extent of this persons head mobility but I'm a quad and have been using Origin Instruments "Head Mouse" for several years now. I surf the net and can type using their on screen keyboard. It has really opened the world to me! I found it tiring only in the beginning now I use my pc all day! Here's there web site http://orin.com/index.htm If you have any questions pm me.
