logging into websites
i just formatted my computer and reinstalled windows xp pro and now it seems i am having issues with some of my favorite websites mostly any site that requires you to login in with a username pw combo, it seems that after putting in my info the page just hangs there as the blue bar runs across the bottom forever, i can hit stop or cancel the action and try to browse to another page and nothign will happen almost as if it killed my browser. i can however open a new window and browse like normal except for putting in my pw username on another site then itll hang on me again. windows xp pro as stated above along with IE 6.x and all newest updates and patches, did not have this problem before the format and odd of something like this to appear after a wipe

login cookies are only involved if you set your browser to automatically log you in when you visit the given website. in this case, Montana (I think) is manually enterring the info, and then the browser hangs. I dont believe this is a cookie issue. be damned if I do know what it is though.

ok here is the dilly-yo i installed mozilla and opera yesterday and on occaision they would both do the same thing, the 2 main sites I am having the issues with are www.fanball.com checking on my fantasy football league page, i get to the league (fanball comissioner) and then i try to log in it just hang. the other site is www.etopps.com trying to access my portfolio wont do anything after i enter my nick/pw just hangs. just an odd problem since they both worked FINE 3 nights ago but soon as i formatted my box they start doing this.

Perhaps the problem is with loading Flash, Shockwave, or Java (or something similar)?
|
me thinks the answer to the problem is a baseball bat upside the tower that should just about knock anything lose that would be messed up :)
|
Try searching for spyware or viruses - even though you re-installed and such - you may have acquired a virus or password stealer/keylogger and the website may not let you in. other than that - A baseball bat should work just fine! also like Redlemon said - you may need to fix ur Java - good luck

sorry i have never heard of this problem.. especially since it's since a clean install and happens with all those browsers.
|
im very vigilant on spyware and virii norton 2k4 and ad aware were the first two items installed on the box, as far as java goes i am using a microsoft virtual machine i could try the new sun one see how that goes but who knows i think the bat would work best

Could your firewall be hanging things up???
mine did recently-- |
no firewall on a router only which has/had same settings nothing changed there after the format he settings are all intact, i appreciate all the input and i think i may have found it, it seems if i delete the cookies stored for these websites i have a high rate of success on logging in so i just added a lil thing on window washer when it runs every couple of hours to delet the cookies stored for these sites and i think that will handle it.
