Is it possible to save a picture from flash?
for instance, id like to save some sports pics from ESPN.com, but in certain areas they are using flash to view the pics. When you right click on them it just allows you to choose "settings" and "about Macromedia flash player 6." anyway to save those pics to your computer?

in case you don't know, take a screen shot by pressing the "Print Screen" key on your keyboard. That copies everything on your screen as an image to the clipboard. Paste it in your favorite graphics editor, and crop away....

The long and the short is no.
.swf files are encrypted to prevent theft and once created, cannot be reverted back to the .wav files, .jpg's, etc that comprise them. If you own Flash, you won't even be able to open the .swf unless the creator mindlessly forgot to select the lock option. For example if you saved a .swf from homestarrunner.com by finding the .swf source file and tried to open the file, Flash would state that the object is locked and close the program. From my standpoint i'm glad Flash gives me control over my intellectual property, but from the advanced users view this may feel unnecissary.

Or you could download SnagIt, one of the most useful and powerful screen capture utilities in the world.
If you don't want to pay for it, you can "try it free" for 30 days. Perfect if you're looking to capture one specific image. http://www.techsmith.com/products/snagit/default.asp Mr Mephisto |

I'm willing to concede that i may be wrong, but i've had little luck editing .swf files i pulled of the web. My experiance has been that downloading the swf itself and trying to edit it has resulted in curupt swf's and no luck in seperating the embedded objects from the flash programing. I'll be very happy if i'm wrong.
