Game Controller
Does anyone know where to find a controller for PC similar to the controllers from Sega Genesis game systems?
Controllers: [edit: site I linked pictures from has blocked the linkage, so click on the new links to access the images.] 3-Button old style: link 6-Button (still old) style link The connectors on these are DB9 (serial) but they do not share common pinouts (so I can't just write a driver) Anyone know of any gamepads that are similar to the above for serial of Gameport on PC (fried USB recently) numist Last edited by numist; 11-15-2003 at 12:23 AM.. |

Jeez, who would care about bandwidth from pictures that small?
You know, atari plugs were the same size as the genesis ports, and I remember being able to play Sonic (the first one, only one button - one action), with an atari controller. The point? Maybe an atari controller is you first step? I don't know actually. I think you would be better off getting the old controllers and hotwiring them.

I know this, but as I mentioned before, my USB main hub on my mainboard has died, and Im not planning on reviving, so I am looking at serial/gameport options only, as mentioned above...
as a secondary note, although the page charliex supplied was helpful, it would have been much more helpful if the links weren't dead. Most of the links it linked to were out of date to a site for sale and one dead domain, and a discontinued product... I am, however, getting use to using the keyboard, which is somewhat surprising... I thought it was going to be harder with the keyboard but for some reason it seems to be getting easier.... |

Playstation USB Controller adapter is the best thing I have ever bought.
That said, I say use that. And u can get USB - Serial adapters. Buuut if you want one similar to the sega's... I have this other one that called the "Pro Pad 8 Digital" by Interact, It even comes with the serial - usb adapter. It seems to get bad reviews, but I seriously wonder why because it plays almost any classic or console (rom) perfectly. If people try using it for games today I could understand, but why would you.
