Ripping Music From A Video Game?

(This is all the reasoning why I want the music and why I can't find it, if you don't want to waste your time, skip to the next paragraph.) I guess I'll start from the beginning. I've watched NFL Primetime for many, many years and have became addicted to the music. With the P2P programs I swore I would be able to find MP3's of the songs somewhere. Nope. I've searched Google, haven't been able to find anything. Then, finally, I found the reason. The music was created by ESPN and they have kept all rights and have kept it that way. I was pretty bummed. Around comes this fall and I see ESPN NFL Football for the Xbox and buy it. After going to the options menu for the first time I'm looking around and I find the music section. Spending a few minutes there, I find basically every single song from Primetime on that disc for ESPN NFL Football.

So, from this Xbox game disc, is there any way I can separate the music so I can save it to my HD?

Put a mike to your speakers and record it?

Not exactly quality, but it's a thought.

I'm pretty sure you can find them on any of the better p2p file sharing programs, you probably just gave up a little too soon. Try doing a broader search for the titles of the songs and see what comes up.

try searching OC Remix; http://remix.overclocked.org

they often list the locations of the original tracks that are remixed. worth a shot.

Can't you connect the audio out plug on the Xbox to the mic or audio In plug on your computer? I don't own an xbox so I don't know what the wiring options are. Then you could use a Audio program like Soundforge to record the music.

Just a thought.

scansinboy is right: this will probably be the easiest way to get to the music with minimal effort. Unless you know some good hackers who could get inside the Xbox, this will be your best bet. If you can find a copy of CoolEdit to record it, that would be good. Save them all as wav files, then copy to CD.

Yep, it's possible. You've got to do couple of tricks though...
First of all the XBOX game disc is a standard data DVD in UDF format. But you won't be able to read it with your normal PC DVD, because the disc protection algorithm is built into the XBOX DVD drive...

PM or email me if you're interested how to get around this problem...

if you have an audio surround receiver it should have an audio out jack (some TVs have this as well). just use your xbox to input the source to your receiver and have it route that signal to the output channel. radio shack and some other places have the "Y" cables you need. it'll have the red and white RCA jacks on one end, and a mini-jack (headphone style) on the other. connect the red and white ends to the output on your receiver, then connect the mini-jack to the input port on your soundcard. if you don't have the software to record it to a .wav file, i believe download.com has some freeware for it. once it is in .wav format, its a cinch to convert it to mp3 format with any number of programs. hope this helps.
