Help, windows wont load - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

On my other computer i cant get windows to load. It starts to load normally and then it blacks out to msdos. It says cant find file WIN.COM Unable to Load Windows. Can anyone give me some help. I have no idea what to do.

machine specs. recent install/deletions. anything else you have done to your machine in the last few days. we need details in order to help.

but it seems to me that you answer is right here: "It says cant find file WIN.COM Unable to Load Windows"

your machine has either lost, corrupted or misplaced this file. get a copy on floppy and put it in the root directory (ie C:\) and then try again.

What he said. We need to know more than that. What version are you running? With XP you, can usually repair the install to fix problems like this.

or better yet, go into bios and make sure to select the cd-drive as the first boot device, then insert your windows disk and reboot.

windows should repair itself by creating a new win.com file during the boot-up process.

If it goes to DOS, then it's probably Win95/98.
