Mac wizzes in Seattle area? iBook freezorama
 

My iBook is on the fritz. It keeps freezing. It needs love. And before I spend a grand to send it back to Apple, I'm hoping some kind soul who knows about these sorts of things could look at it and magically fix my baby.
More details available upon request... but that's about it... it boots all the way up and logs in, and freezes (usually when clicking on something)... manual shut down, boot up, doesn't make it through logon, and it freezes. repeat, wash, rinse.
only suspect correlation I can think of - a few hours before it first froze I had just plugged in an external monitor to the video out port. everything was working dandy at that time however.

I'd be happy to compensate in any which way that I reasonably can, and a million thanks in advance!!!

have you taken it into a local shop? Will it freeze if you boot from a CD?

Boot from CD. Does the problem occur ?
Remove any additional RAM. Same ?

If yes take it to a shop or send it to Apple. If everything is cool then reformat the drive and install a clean copy of X and play with it for a while.

Should be cool.
