Windows Media Player Won't Open

...I am not sure why either, I tryed restarting my computer. Thought maybe it froze or something, Still won't open though.

I was going to uninstall it then download it again from Microsofts website...But wanted to see if you guys have any other suggestions or advice.

Thanks.

I am running Windows XP Proffesional...If that helps.

got the latest version? (If not, use Windows Update to upgrade to the latest version)

I just did...But it still doesn't open.

Should I just delete it and reinstall?

That's what I'd do. You can download the installation file from Microsoft.

I tried to remove Windows Media Player...But I get a notice saying that it cannot be deleted because other programs may be using it.

How do I figure out what programs are using windows media player?

Thanks.

Gah, I hate it when I get an error message like that. It should friggin tell you what processes are locked on to it.

Anyway... a web brower maybe? Could be a bunch of things, I guess. Trying killing as many apps/processes as you can and try again. If that doesn't work, maybe booting into Safe Mode?

edit: actually, just dawned on me... just try installing it again. screw getting it uninstalled, its probably unnecessary.

If you have virus software running on your PC, always shut It down before Installing any other new software. Installing new software with your virus software running could corrupt the Install of your new software.

I have an intermittent problem with WMP where it won't shut down properly, and when I try to run it again, it just won't. Then I open the task manager and kill its process. I haven't had the trouble with WMP 9 though.
