Is there a way to tell how long since reinstall? - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I nuke my computer about every 6 months to get a clean install. I know it is time to do it again, but out of curiosity, would like to know exactly when Windows was installed. Is there any way to tell this? Thanks...

check the 'Date Modified' of your System Volume Information dir..

(afaik that dir is extremely hard to modify)

appears to be accurate on my puter, at least.

Start/Run/cmd

Then type "systeminfo" without the quotes.

Scroll back towards the top, one of the line items is original install date.

That's on WinXP

i had forgot about that. im used to looking in the registry. want to say

hklm/software/microsoft/windows/currentversion/

ah crap forget the proper key....
