I like Mice.
Okay, this may sound really messed up, but I would like to know if anybody has any clue as to how I can use muliple (2) INDEPENDENT mice (as in a cursor for each mouse)... I'm sure it sounds pointless and just completely useless, but I actually have a very practical purpose, and an hour of googling has gotten me to almost give up all hope. I discovered an essay which explained it to be do-able (in Windows) but only gave an algorithm for doing such a thing.

Yes, it's possible to use any number of mice... You won't get 2 mouse pointers in Windows (it's not prepared to handle more than 1 mouse), but from an application you can get the info about the mice and handle them. (There is a special build for MAME which handles 4 mice as input devices...)
On this page you'll find loads of info (including source code) about multiple mice handling... Have fun... ![]() |

Personally I want it cuz I don't have much space on the right side of my desk to move my mouse, and since I have my laptop w/ an extended desktop (2nd monitor) I basically want a mouse that has quicker access to my winamp, and trillian, and post it notes and other miscellaneous stuff I run in my secondary monitor... cuz it's a pain to slide my mouse back and forth a ton, and even though I have a hotkey set to jump the mouse to the opposite monitor... I'm not a fan of switching between mouse and keyboard much... I either use the keyboard or the mouse and try to minimize switching back and forth... it's not something I'll die w/o, but I think it would come in handy (after getting past the learning curve of using a mouse lefthanded)... well, I could technically use my touchpad tooo... so in actuality... I've got 3 pointing device inputs controlling one cursor right now... 2 or 3 cursors would be sweet... I could have a my touchpad cursor setting on winamps next track button... a mouse cursor for actual use, and the the third... well, I didn't plan out a 3rd one yet... but I'd make it come in handy.
