Win2k3

heh, that name reminds me of UT2k3 too much.

Anyway, has anyone had a chance to have a playaround of win2k3 yet, and if so, is it any good? =)

I have played with it a little. Looks like they threw a WinXP front end on Win2K and added support for wireless. That's about all I saw.

If it has an XP gui then it should not sully the name of windows 2000

(I hear it has multiple desktop support - I wonder if it is any good)

so far I've seen that it is much more 'friendly' to manage than 2000 server. The only server we were able to upgrade here were our AD Domain Controllers, 'cause Exchange 2000 Server won't work with the reinvented IIS inside of 2003 server.

Honsetly tho, the best thing I've seen so far is being more equipped to manage the XP clients in an AD domain better than with windows 2000 server.

ymmv

I found that whenever I clicked on anything to set it up, like DHCP, I got the Win2K MMC for management.

As far as multiple destop goes, XP supports multiple desktops if you download the add on from Microsoft. I've used this and don't like it. You have 4 desktops but only one task bar so you really have to pay attention to what you are doing or you will put move your apps from one desktop to another.

Not 100% compatible with NT

According to the article at http://news.zdnet.co.uk/story/0,,t269-s2133899,00.html , only about 60% of NT applications will run on 2003. Something to watch out for when considering the upgrade.
