usenet servers

Can anyone recommend a good quality, high retention and, above all, fast usenet server I can subscribe to. I've used usenet-access before but as I notice a 500MB per day limit I shan't be going back to them anytime soon. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I use Newshosting.

cheers sailor, just had a look at that link. Looks interesting, still not too enamoured with the idea of a download limit but I guess that's par for the course.

Yeah, it is. There are companies that offer unlimited downloads, but they cost a lot more. Granted, if you really download that much, it would come out to be less per GB, but it costs a lot.

I thought 10GB wouldnt be nearly enough for me, but I have yet to use much more than 5GB per month. I think you will end up using less than you think.

Here, check this link out. I used it several times to decide which service to go with.

I just use the one rom my ISP. They outsource news to usenetserver.com. It's ok, but sometimes I can't download even article headers. It usualy is fast, but sometimes plain doesn't work. never in-between.

im on cox cable, theres are free.. no limit, and 6 day retention i believe.. and they have most the binary newsgroups.. i would try the ones from your ISP

i've used giganews for over a year now, highly reccomended

18 day retention (i believe, i'm not positive on this), extremely fast servers, and never an incomplete file

Yeah. The problem with some ISPs is that many dont have a news server, and many of those that do have horrible retention, horrible completion, dont carry many groups, or are just plain slow. I was running my ISPs until I came to school, which had a crappy news server, so I had to pay for one.

Easynews is by far the most highly recommended. My friend bummed an account off someone and is satisfied with the retention and quality for a good long time.

I've been using Giganews. I've had no problems with it. Good retention and fast. And I use Newsbin Pro for downloading. Good stuff

I use easynews after switching from usenet server. I like easynews' web interface option for when I am not at home.
