The way I finally got rid of all that stuff on my Toshiba is just re-format the hard drive and do a clean install of your OS. Then just install the Toshiba utils you really need, none of that crap. There's easier ways, though:
first, not sure if you've done this already but hit ctrl-alt-delete and use the task manager to shutdown the application in question. Then find out where it's being started from, usually in the registry at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run Delete the key with the same name as the program you're trying to stop from running ever again. Warning: editing the registry can trash your computer, kill your loved ones, etc., etc. Just don't mess with anything else you'll be fine. I know which program you're talking about but I can't remember the name of the executable, so you'll have to figure that one out. Sorry. If you do a search on google for the name of each running executable in task manager usually you'll find someone who has a description of what it is.
