Dell Axim X5 - my dumb kid tried to install ppc2003
It's a hacked version of pocket pc 2003 he got off the net. Didnt install properly, so now it hangs on boot.
So no active-sync, obviously. Does anyone know of a toolset that will help (bootloader install?) or does the thing have to go back to Dell for a re-flash? Any advice appreciated. I'm a unix dude, dont know much about handhelds at all.

I never heard of anything that would allow that because of the fact that you cant connect the computer to it any more. One thing they might have is a bootable Flash Card? Never heard of one but you never know. Also check your manual, perhaps Dell included some kind of revert button you can press? I know that with a Palm you CANNOT install a new OS on one, but I have never delt with a PPC

Thanks Vanquish thats pretty much what I expected. No 'revert' button, alas, and far as I can tell there's no way to boot from C/F or SD card.
If nobody else comes up with a solution I'll send the unit to Dell Support and feign innocence when they ask what the hell happened.
