Interesting... Seems like they are packing a bit too much into what has originally been a very tight audio player though... Also, what happened to 4?

There isn't a WinAMP 4. WinAMP 5 got its name from WinAMP 2 + WinAMP3. Developers think of the strangest things.

3 was absolute garbage...I'll stick with 2.9, thank you. It does what I need it to...play music.

3 was OK, but I don't need the everything and the kitchen sink to play music. The only thing I liked about it was the freeform skins, which will be in WinAMP 5.

Im not 100% sure, but i think that its not even supported by 'winamp' as they dont have anything (as of earlier today) on their website about it. I could be wrong.

i wouldnt get that version 5. just stick with 2. that version 5 alpha or whatever is massivly buggy. If winamp ever officially releases it then maybe, but right now id just stick with 2.91, it has almost all the features both winamp 3 and winamp 5 have except the cool skins, and really, you dont need those, they take up system resources anyways

I think 5 is great, been using it for the whole day and havn't hit any really big bugs, now 5 alpha is a different story, it has bugs up the ying-yang.... Now if you want, upgrade to the unreleased version of winamp 2.95 here

With 5, they are keeping the stability and speed of 2 and implementing all the cool stuff of 3. Very smart for them... It will be interesting to see how this Winamp Pro thing works out. Will people be willing to pay for more advanced features? I might consider it... even if there is a crack that comes out. Support for a product i have liked since i first saw it many many years back.

Kewl, I love winamp 2.x.
3 was always glitchy and unstable.
I'm going to give 5 a glance, give it a try, and hope it's worth it.
It's a beta which means it's going to have a few bugs here and there, everywhere... but if it's good then i'll keep it. thanx

I'm quite happy with v2.91. Since I don't need all the bells and whistles just something to play music with, I will pass.

Does anyone else have a lot of jumpiness on most Internet TV stations? I am running Winamp 2 right now, but will be upgrading to 5 to see if it helps...it is really annoying when I am trying to watch family guy!!

I can't even fathom how anyone could use Winamp. Editing ID3 tags in that thing is a freaking nightmare. Before iTunes on Windows I just stuck with Windows Media Player (editing ID3 tags via my Mac).
