MyIE2 Fuxed me up
I installed MyIE2 but I didn't like it, so I removed that piece of crap. Anyway, afterwards, some things stopped working how they used to.
One thing, I like going to start>run and typing in www.url.com, when i want to go to a website, if IE isn't already open. After installing and then uninstallign myie2, this is what happens when I try to go to a url from start>run http://rictor.net/flesh/error.jpg Also, in AIM, i get an error as well when clicking on a link in an IM. Obviously MyIE2 did something.. so if anyone could help me out, I'd greatly appreciate it :) Thanks in advance ;) |
Unless myIE2 uninstalled IE as well, this should work:
Open up the control panel (shoulld be in your start menu somewhere) Go to tools > Folder Options. Select the "file types" tab. Scroll down until you find HTM and HTML files. Highlight it, then select "change" from the box below. Then Select Internet Explorer. That should fix it, I think. |
ok, I'll bite... wtf's myIE2?
|
adds tabbed controls and such to IE
|
ah...
|
trog: that doesn't work. internet explorer is already set for .html and .htm :(
|
What? MyIE2 is the shiznit. I can't imagine browsing without it. I guess it doesn't uninstall cleanly... guess I won't uninstall it.
At any rate, under the File Types tab, there should be some entries at the top that have no extension (it says NONE). Play around with some of those. "Internet Shortcut" looks promising. Good luck! |
try doing a repair install on IE

internet shortcut:URL
advanced tab has three actions, here is 'open': rundll32.exe shdocvw.dll,OpenURL %l and actually the internet shortcut (NONE) has the exact same action on it's open command |
