Deciding on Memory for new PC...Need help.
Hey cats and kittens,
I'm building a new PC and I need some logistical help. My new mobo will only have 2 DIMM slots. It supports ddr200 / ddr 266 and ddr 333. Here is the delema. This is the board I'm buying MSI - MS-6580 - 845GE MAX-L Socket 478 ATX Motherboard with Integrated Audio/Video and LAN Ports It's way sweet. Now if I go PC2100 I can go up to 2GB of RAM, but if I go PC2700 I can utilize FSB533 @ 1GB of RAM. Which would U choose? |
do you see yourself ever using that ram?
Personally I'd go for 2Gigs but I'm a crazy multitasker and push my machine to it's limits. So AZ, what do you do with your computer? |

If you cut video WHILE playing games (yes, I'm sick) then 2 gigs. But since your gaming, you will most likely upgrade your hardware before you need that extra gig at one time.
And the extra little bit of speed wouldn't hurt. |
The Internet is for porn... the internet is for porn... :)
inside joke to those that have seen Avenue Q , the broadway play. |
I'm with juan on this one. SPEED

PC2700 @ 1G
if you overclock (msi boards oc well) Geil PC3700 dimms give you a lot of overhead |
Definitely get the PC2700. It's much faster than PC2100, and on some applications, over 1.5 GB of RAM will slow it down. 1 GB of PC2700 is perfect!

I'm just here because your "come here" avatar turns me on.

Use the 2700, you won't need 2GB RAM
