Quickie webpage
Lets say I wanted to start a quick web page that I can post photos on so my friends and family can view the (thumbnails into larger images). I'd pay a little extra to avoid billions of pop-ups…
What's the best service for a computer novice like me to start? |
geocities?

if you were looking to buy a domain name for your site, i'd go with <a href="http://www.doteasy.com">doteasy</a>. just buy the domain, and they have a free hosting that can't be beat.

i know boomspeed.com regardless of how fast they say it is is kinda slow but 100megs it is remote linkable (if you choose to post pics here on the tfp) not to mention its got unlimited transfers and is i think $6/month give em a looksie

You want to actually code the pages yourself and just look for a place to host them or you want a site to do most of the work for you?
Some of my friends use Picturetrail to show their vacationpics. I must say it looks pretty good for a free site. No popups, only 1 banner. Haven't used it myself though, so I can't say how easy it is to handle, but most of my friends aren't that web savvy, so you can assume it's not that hard. |
What sort of connection are you on? Most of the higher bandwidth connection have some sort of free hosting system. Make yourself a nice web photo album, ftp it onto the site and voilá!

Yahoo Briefcase (aka Photos).
A program like SuperJPG will create thumbnails and a web page for you: http://www.midnightblue.com/superjpg/. You'll need a place to upload the HTML and images though. |
