a DOS command:
dir /b /s > mp3list.txt it will make a file called Mp3list.txt

i would say go with the winamp route you more than likely already have it so nothing needed to download and while you are making your list just make a pls or m3u file (playlists) and drop it on your desktop of the entire directory and hit the shuffle button away you go hours of listening pleasure.

well i mean it is totally up to you but i actually love winamp vs wmpX for my mp3 playing only, for just about every other format i use wmp and that is just my preference not to mention im still running an old version of winamp and have heard of bunches of people bitching about newer versions.
