Scandalous e-mail?
i just got this e-mail. it states it's from microsoft, and has the attachment for an upgrade on it.
reasons why i think it's fishy: 1) microsoft never ever sends out the updates as attachments to e-mail addresses 2) the from address is from some domain @updates.com. 3) they refer to you as 'Dear MS User' it sounds like a way to infect your computer and i hate to see how many people actually run the .exe file. what do you guys think? beware or not? ============================================== From: "Microsoft Program Security Division" <efqknq-rzyo@updates.com> | This is spam | Add to Address Book To: "User" <txuialw.jerphftvud@updates.com> Subject: Newest Net Critical Upgrade Date: Sun, 5 Oct 2003 21:13:55 +0100 Microsoft All Products | Support | Search | Microsoft.com Guide Microsoft Home MS User this is the latest version of security update, the "October 2003, Cumulative Patch" update which fixes all known security vulnerabilities affecting MS Internet Explorer, MS Outlook and MS Outlook Express as well as three newly discovered vulnerabilities. It's a scam.
Like you said, MS doesn't send updates via e-mail. period. (and there are many other things wrong about this)

There were a couple of updates sent out this past week from MS but like everyone said, they don't come in e-mails. I have gotten e-mails from Norton telling me about system update, but they just said to go to MS update to get them,
