Computer research programs
I was wondering if there are any other computer research programs like SETI, which use your home computer when it's not doing anything to process some data or do its own thing.
Are there any other good cause you can get your computer to work for otehr than SETI? not saying SETI is crap or anything, i was just wondering about any other alternatives which may be for a good cause? like cancer or other diease research etc |

I do my bit for cancer research with a similar program from www.grid.org
It works the usual way, screensaver etc and gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to know my computer's doing something useful when I'm not using it

find large mersenne primes. what's the point? it furthers mathematical research slightly and you get money for finding the next big one! |
