Has anyone tried these or know how they work? They look pretty cool but I doubt theyre worth the $100.

I could not find a direct answer to that on their site (which doesn't surprise me), but I think it works as follows:

The '3d stereo' drivers that you install from the accompanied CD, makes you video card draw the same image twice (one from a slightly different angle than the other). The glasses alternatively allow your right and eyes to see the image.

Combined the glasses allow your right eye to see the image from a slightly different angle than your left.

Your brain cannot detect these shutter-speeds the glasses and videocard use, so you just see a complete image in your right and left eye. They are combined to 'see' depth.

Hope this clears it up a little...

I've got 'em. They sit in my closet and will forever remain there. Damn things give me a headache like nobody's business... and don't really do much to give you that 3D image they promise.

we had some similar hardware in the department at school for 3d visualization.
The entire department thought they were awesome, until people started getting sick. Depending on the person, and length of use this could happend fairly often. They really arent worth the cash, and I'd wait for a few years when more effective hardware is out and in the consumer market.

Looks like you have your info. I just wanted to point out that I read in a review a while ago the better refresh speed your monitor supports the easier it is on your eyes.

I tried them out at an computer expo with Descent 3 as a demonstration. I didn't like them (I kept wanting to take them off, but that just made the picture worse). I think things just look better and sexier flat...at a high resolution...mmmmmm.
