Musicmatch. It's the best I've found so far. Click on the link, then click on basic for the free version.

Ah the eternal question. I used to use my nero program, then I switched to Creative playcenter. They both access CD databases and are pretty decent in quality, but I felt I was still missing something. Then I discovered variable bitrate and exact cd-copy. My Creative ZEN has never sounded better.

Exact Audio Copy for ripping wavs from CDs and DBpowerAMP for nearly everything else.

a good place to ask audio questions:
Hydrogen Audio

unless you need the files for a portable player and/or have limited HD space, then I would recommend using a lossless format such as APE, FLAC, or even Shorten

on the lossy side of the fence, Musepack almost always sounds better then MP3 with bitrates around 170kbps for the standard setting.
if you want to stick with MP3, then I would rip raw WAV files with EAC (Exact Audio Copy) and encode the MP3 files with the LAME 3.90.3 and the recommended settings. this setting:
Quote:
--alt-preset standard (~190 kbit/s, typical 180 ... 220)
is usually good for that format

Small install, various codec support, lots of settings, and rips tracks. It doesn't try and bundle 500 other features in with it.

I found this program a few weeks ago, and I love it. It does everything I would normally do with several other programs at once.
