Webcam and video conf. software recommendations

I'm building a computer for my gf, and since she currently lives about six hours away I wanted to get her a webcam to go with it.
Does anybody have a recommendation for high quality webcam for under $100? I've got a logitech quickcam now and the picture quality is horrible. Something with a clean picture and good fps is what I'm shooting for.

I'm also looking for a program to video conference with. Something like Ventrilo only with video. A program that has support for a dedicated server would be best.

All help is appreciated in advance :-)

I don't know abotu webcams, but logitech is everything I've seen.

Ever looked into CUSeeMe or Netmeeting?
Netmeeting with windows free. CUSeeMe has dedicated $$$$ servers.

I use hotmail messenger for videoconferencing with my folks back at home. Despite the fact that we are an 8 hour flight away the quality is amazing, and it is free.

Cool, I'll have to look into them. Now all I need is a camera.........

yeah, but the window size is unchangable and extremely small. if he has a powerful webcam, this would be wasting the quality.

try netmeeting.

go to start->run->conf

in windows xp to start netmeeting.

Well, we both have broadband. So I was hoping to get a high quality camera and a program that could take advantage of it. I've used netmeeting before and it seemed pretty good at the time.
