ftp/router question
Does anyone know how i can login to an internet nework address starting with 192.168.xx.xx xxxx ?
I am going through a router and whenever i start with 192.xxx. it thinks im talking to the router and i cant hit the internet site with that addy. |
actually there shouldn't be any internet address in that IP block. it's a class C network block reserved for internal LAN use.

192.168.*.* isn't an internet site.
Everything in that region is part of your local area network. If someone is asking you to reach their computer then they are giving you the wrong IP. You need the IP that the router they connect to is using, and the ports on which you are trying to reach them need to be forwarded by their router. |
Thats what I thought. Its some govt crap and they insist that is the correct address. They need to give me the external addy. Thanks for the help.

*sigh* the government... great...

The followind blocks are reserved for private use and are non-routable.
192.168.0.0/16 172.16.0.0/12 10.0.0.0/8 Read RFC 1918 and RFC 3330 Tell this moron to read http://www.faqs.org/rfcs/rfc3330.html 192.168.0.0/16 - This block is set aside for use in private networks. Its intended use is documented in [RFC1918]. Addresses within this block should not appear on the public Internet. |
Lol. I love when this happens ...
