Does anyone know how to extract the files in an exe
Ive got a huge exe file, but its broken and it doesnt run correctly, but all i want is the files inside it.
Is there a way i can get to them, maybe manually extract the files. Is there a program that can do this Any help will be appreciated

if it's a self extracting exe file, then you could try one of the compression programs to try and salvage it.
i suggest you try both Winzip and Winrar if it can be taken out, one of the two (or both) should do the trick. i suggest you try winrar first, since it's more powerful. PS - those are direct links and should start the download once clicked upon.

If it is a .exe utilitized to "execute" an install program, you might want to try hamfisting and do what the .exe was going to do. The problem with modern (post 19**) executables are they call too many programs too make the install work.
I think your question was, to paraphrase: how can I break down a .exe and let me tailor it to my needs. Have you ever used dos? Determine your need, create a simple .bat file. Your .exe is not working because it is calling for something it cannot find. Doesn't mean it is not there, the OS just can't find it. Check your paths, determine your needs.... I need some sleep. You might want to do a search of the tfp. Many programmers here. Obviously, I am not included in the programmer group. But, I have a chicken that can do multiplication tables. I have a cousin that cannot do math. I think he is gonna marry that chicken Who is gonna do their taxes? Yeah, like I give a cluck! |

There no way to tell without knowing what sort of executable it is ?
Is it a wrapped zip/rar self extractor , a custom installer, windows resources, something else ? if you don't know what it is, load it into notepad or wordpad and scan it for recognisable text with maybe a copyight pkware or such give a clue to what it is. Typically theylll be close to the top of the file if its a self extractor. |

i thinks its an installer file. it doesnt need any other files.
It tries to install a program, but one of the files inside is corrupt, so it aborts. But all i want are the other files inside. I hope thats enough info
