Mandrake Linux 9.1. I know its not the super kryptonite atom smasher that some of the other disto's are, but it works well enough for me.

MozillaFirebird. It's the one open source app I use under Windows and Linux.

Good ole OpenSSH (bugs and all) and wget. Makes downloading my stuff from easynews easy. ssh into my home box from work, wget -b url, let it go, when I get home my stuff is waiting for me.

I tried gentoo, redhat, most other big distros, and cant get any of em to work with my damn wireless :( I refuse to go back to a wire just to use linux on my laptop. So when wireless just works (and yes, I spent a week trying to get it to work properly) I will use it on my laptop. Until then, its (linux) for servers.
