CD-RW Drive Help
The tech support has pretty much failed me, so I'm turning to the tfp.
here goes: I have a pacific digital mach52 (52x24x52) internal ide drive. it's set to master. it used to work real well, but now it doesnt like to work at all (read or write). I get errors and failure when i try to burn cd's and it's EXTREMELY slow when trying to read 'em. The tech support suggest that I install an "aspi" and then install the firmware for the drive. I did both, and am still where I started. It's not a buffer under run because I have a pretty fast pc that can send the data. I'm linking to a log file from nero that was created during the burn. Link This is when I was burning a cd (audio) for a friend of mine. Any suggestions/answers welcome.

Dude, if you are trying to write cd's at 52x, be sure the cds you are using are 52x compatable. Other than that, I cant make heads or tails of that log file. IMO, if the drive is having trouble both reading AND writing cds, it should be replaced. still under warranty, right? send it back for a replacement.

the thing that stumps me is the fact that it worked fine a couple of months ago and now it's just acting up. i'm pretty sure it's under warranty so i might be able to get it replaced. (but I'm off in the dorms and I have no idea where the receipt would be at). I kept tinkering at it till I found out that it CAN burn at 8x speed. When I try higher speeds, it never seem to get past the "writing lead-in" part. I know that my pc can support speeds a lot higher than 8x.
