Just got a new pocket pc...
The HP H2210. It is a thing of beauty. Ordered online with the education discount, got the free 5-7 day shipping. It got here in 2 days. I was most impressed.
http://www.infosyncworld.com/reviews/n/3895.html Anyone care to recommend some good freeware or games for the pocket pc os? I've found a few sites, but nothing spectacular.

not to rain on your parade, Scipio, but is this just a toy for you, or do you have an actual use for it?
just curious, as I cannot see the point of these things.

I use it daily. At school, I have 6 office hours per week, and 10 hours of meetings. My involvement in student government and 2 student organzations, not to mention classes and homework, requires a planner of some kind. I never thought I would want one until my dad gave me his old palm III, and I used it so much that I wanted something nicer. Not that it's not a toy, but I do get a lot of "legitimate" use out of it.
Once I scrounge up some more cash, I'll get a keyboard to take notes in class, and wireless lan to check email when I'm away from my desktop. All I want to know is, what's a good source of software? I'm not going to pay $29.99 for a pocket pc program when there's freeware (not warez) running around.

This site has some stuff, but putting software on the ppc is a bit trickier because there's more than one type of processor. Mine has one of the new xscale cpus, and it runs Windows Mobile 2003, so a lot of older stuff doesn't like to work on it. It's much more powerful than the old palm, but also more complicated.
I found pocket quake, now I gotta give it a try...

all recent ppcs are arm or xscale, all arm should work on xscale, but as youi said it often doesnt, plus the leader in the field for a long time was the ipaq and it had somer really dumb hardware/firmware issues you had to work around, making cross ppc compatibility harder
mame is also available. scion, not sure if you are just trolling or serious, but a ppc is not a laptop, same as a notebook, palmtop and desktop are all different plus they ain't all that cheap |

The solution seems to be this emulator called morphgear. It's amazing. It runs practically every system you'd want, and it's free. NES, SNES, Genesis, GB, GBA, and Turbografx.
The ppc wasn't all that expensive. It was a major purchase for me, but it's the peripherals that will kill. 2 memory cards, a keyboard, a compactflash wi-fi card, and some kind of decent case will cost a few dollars.
