Dumbest computer accidents!!!

Hey there...the only accident I've had was dropping my 200GB hard drive on my foot...OUCH!!!......so what are you're crazy computer accidents???

I left blisters on my thumb from my Nibbler cutting tool; I had to cut 3 120mm holes with it, and each hole took 1 1/2 hours. The blisters bled like hell under the surface of the skin and hurt for about 2 weeks.

I had a cooling problem do to overclocking everything and havent invested in a water cooling setup. The only way I kept my temp down was leaving the cover off and placing an air purifier/deionizer next to it to try and keep the down. I was using a can of air to clear some dust out, and was getting sick of the cloud that kept gathering each time I did it. So I was holding a vaccum extension in one hand and the air in another to dust and suck.

Im guessing that an ESD arc happend somehow because I fried my motherboard.

I was testing a hardware config in an open case, and decided to reach in to move a cable. Suddenly I'm smelling smoke. I brushed another loose cable right into a header on my video card and managed to short out a couple or more pins.
Bye Bye video card! Not a cheap one either.

Without spending a few hours going into detail, it seems like every time I open my computer case, the tech gods demand a blood sacrifice for my machine to get up and running again.

I've cut fingers, hands, arms, and feet while messing around inside of computers.

I was working on one of the pc's at school and taking one of the cards out of it's slots somehow cut me and i was bleeding.

the port outside had my blood on it! it was cool.

You think all those cuts everyone is getting are accidents? Think again. Microsoft is cutting down on piracy by linking your computer to your DNA. Next time you try to buy an operating system maybe they should just require you to send in a vial of blood?

Alright away from the paranoid aspect of this. I haven't had any crazy accidents. I did however have to take my cd-rom out because it had a needle stuck in the little manual eject thing(dont ask). When I got back in the computer simply beeped. Maybe I didn't offer up any blood so it got mad and locked me out? :)

Cutting my hands up really bad on a non-rounded case.. Now I only buy em rounded, cause case cuts suck :(

Ok. This is a bit humiliating.

It was the day before I left for university. I had just read about all these cool, new-fangled things called "case mods." I determined that I would mod my comp and my friend, who was rather profficient in electronics, would help me. I envisioned a thing of beauty. A custom window on the side, an interior all lit up, and my own baybus. I had to come back from youth group and my friend said he would start on the electronics until I got back.

I pull into the driveway and .............. see a plume of black smoke rising up out of our mini-garage. Suddenly, my friend bursts our of the door, waving his hands in front of face, screaming wildly, and running towards me at a breakneck speed.

He's babbling to the point I can't understand him. I calm him down, ask what he did, don't get an answer, and proceed into the garage. I find my computer hooked up to the wall socket..........only the cable has split in multiple spots and the wires are sticking out all over the place like a ballerina's tu-tu. My friend to this day doesn't know what happened.

But the story doesn't end there.

Oh no, that would be too simple. I'm a mule-headed person and a minor setback like this wasn't gonna stop me. We get a new power cord and begun work on the interior lighting again. I was using a 110 Volt light setup so we decided to open up the power supply and take the power direct off the prongs. We soldering the wires on fine and began to route the wires. I just happen to place one of the wires too close to the metal side of the case while we testing the lights. It arced, shocked me quite well, the power cable went into a metal tu-tu schtick (again), and all of the lights went out. We go to the breaker, flip the switch, and............nothing. We, disappointed, transferred all of our equipment to our shop next door. We won't even go into what happened in the shop.

Suffice to say, we latter found out the next day what had happened. Flipping the breaker didn't restore power because we had physically shot the breaker switch out of the breaker box. It was only 1/2 in the box and we didn't notice that in the dark.

Sadly, this wasn't the last of my computer modding ordeals. ;)
