need to know what motherboard model i have
how can i go about doing this?
|
if you have one of the pc's that you buy from a retailer (like dell or hp), it's very hard to tell and that info is not very useful.
if you have a custom built pc, u should know it (duh!). anyway, try looking for a name when the pc is loading up (when it's doing the boot process) |
There should be a string of numbers across the bottom of the screen at boot up called the bios string. It IDs your mobo manufacturer.
Go here for more info. |
sometimes there are stickers on the board itself or a model number screened onto the board, just google it and find the manufacturer. In fact just about any # off of the board that looks like a model or serial could be googled...worth a shot.

you can try using aida32 ( http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32 ). it should be able to pull up info on your motherboard.
|
You can use a system info program to do it. I recommend SiSoft Sandra. I won't tell you where to get it, but you should be able to find it relatively easy.
You can also find a limited amount of information in the Windows XP system information app. Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information. -Lasereth |
Take a picture of it if you can and maybe we can help more.
