Alternatives to compressed air?

I hate going out to buying these cans. Is there any type of device I can get that can do the same thing that I can use forever?

Just the air from my lungs seems to work fairly well for me. Canned air every now and then for the tight areas, but usually just lung power.

umm... just about the only thing that you could use forever would be an air compressor... youd be able to plug it in...

an air compressor, or a bike pump I guess. Or a monkey with a rubber tube that doesn't mind getting stepped on.

The Fry's near where I live sells cans of air stuff like that for 3 cans for $2 or $3. Some places sell them for cheap, and you might be able to get a deal for them on ebay.

I use a air compressor at 120 psi to clean my keyboard and I almost split in half but other then that occasion it works better then the cans.

the obvious is usually never realized

i think he wanted more detail, but oh well.

my old vacuum had a way to attach the hose to the exhaust and use it as a blower. see if your vacuum can do this as well. if not, the best way, without killing your lungs and sniffin up all sorts of dust, would be a compressor.

Absolutely nothing... Owning systems with a collective age of 25+ years and using them daily I have never once needed compressed air... It's a gimmick... just get a cloth and wipe down the big clumps.

Its not completely a gimmick as you can't always get the dust out of some areas with just a cloth. I would check if you your vacuum can do anything crazy or if you have a hair dryer which can either be turned on so its not hot air but just regular air or just don't keep hair drying your computer for a long duration with heat.

Otherwise lung air is alright but it really can't be focused well. I say if you need to spray your Heatsink for example and don't want to take the heatsink off just buy canned air but for large clumps just blow by mouth. I think canned air is a required evil of sorts...plus if you turn the can upside down you can freeze and burn your friends!

holy crap 120 PSI were you trying to clean the paint off the keys too ? I cleaned my houses 20 year old roof air conditioner with less pressure than that.

Its tough to get anything outside of compressed air to match the pressure.

you can buy an el cheapo diaphragm compressor for the cost of a dozen aircans, but they are prettly low pressure.

maybe blopens

You could get one of those small air tanks you fill with a compresser...... one trip to the gas station and you'd have enough air to last a few months.

In a craft store you will find a reusable spray can. It has a head
that looks very much like a regular spray can, except it has a port
that you can use to add air from a compressor. Just take it by the gas station and fill it up once in a while.....but take it to the garage when you blow it out----Man, did she climb all over my ass when I blew the tower out right there in her craft room.....looked like a dust storm...

lol - I'm a little lucky.
Neighbour has a small air compressor - when I last opened up a dust filled box I borrowed it and hey presto - clear of dust.

Draw-back : Had to hold my breath on a few occassions - too much dust.

Buy in bulk and you can get a good deal on those compressed air cans. They work wonders on the computer, like you said. Look around on the net and see what fits your budget, because a compressor will be very expensive and a tire pump won't have enough 'umph' ..
