FUCKING HELP!!! mpg's all renamed to mpa's...
I dunno what happened, but about 2 days ago, whenever I tried to dl a mpg link, it has been renamed to mpa (windows audio file).
I right click on the link, select properties, and it will say something like file1.mpg. Then I do save as and it will try to save it as file1.mpa. Of course, i can rename it, and have even written a batch file to do so, but its a pain in the ass. For some reason real player has grown attached to these mpa's and won't relinquish control of them. Fucking bastard program. (and I actually do need to use it, even with the new cool real-alternative). Can someone tell me how my computer or internet explorer (that I use to dl these links) has gotten fucked up so that it decides to rename these files as I download them? Thanks. Cheese |
Mine did that too. I re-named them and ran anti-spy ware software, and I haven't had the problem since

already ran spybot and ad-aware... and I just installed mozilla and it has the same prob... seems to me like its some twisted registry setting, but I can't figure it out...
THanks for your help. Cheese |
try running a repair install on windows media player

I suspect that RealPlayer is the culprit here. One solution is to rid yourself of the PoS. If that isnt a viable option, go into RP's settings/options menu and look for its file association list. set RP to be associated ONLY with .rm, .rma (ie Real files) and NOTHING else.
