i've been gettin emails wit those words on it,and attached is usually a file ending with ".pif".These attachments are 100kb in size and fill up my email space really fast.Any word on wut these files are(virus?)
Oddly enough the emails are mostly coming from Telus.net which is our major phone company in Edmonton.(email is helpdesk@telus.net) |
Sounds like SoBig.F. It doesn't necessarily mean you have it but someone's is (or multiple people's computers are) infected and sending the messages out. Read up on it here:
http://www.f-secure.com/v-descs/sobig_f.shtml and here: http://securityresponse.symantec.com...obig.f@mm.html |
pif files are files that contain the information windows need to run msdos files. That said, they are executable files that are usually viruses when sent over e-mail. Most likely it is from the sobig.f virus or another virus.
