How do you mod your desktop
i would love to know what FREE tools people use to change their desktop in WINXP and WIN2K ... anyhelp would be great as all tools i found were shareware or trials :)
|
Sorry, but all the crap I use costs money. Every good program will cost ya some $$$.
I use Windowblinds, CursorXP, Icon Packager, Desktop X, sometimes Object Bar, and SysMetrix. The last one is the only free program. |
Litestep is free, and has quite a following. Get one of the indie builds of it.

For some simple little things, TweakUI PowerToys.

get the uxtheme.dll crack. it will allow you to run windows visual styles in xp. read this from the neowin forum.

style xp works for me

Okay first of all, why would you need to replace your shell? And second, does it take up extra RAM?
|
i use style xp, lite step or black box.
black box gives you a total linux feel as do some litestep shells. I use to use yz dock when i got into the mac look, but after a week or two I couldn't stand the icons jumping up at me like a friggen jack russel terrior. ;) |
too make windows look different, and probably yes it takes up more ram
