Record HDTV

How do I effectively and simply record an HDTV stream, like say a football game. The source would be digital cable.

No PC units.

Must be easy to use. (The folks need to watch football not me)

check this out:

I have UltimateTV at home which I honestly don't know how I lived without for so many years. But when the HD tivo comes out I may have to get one.

I believe that Sony is currently selling a high-dev DVR in Japan. Products from Sony and other manufacturers should hit the states soon. Expect high prices.

I actually saw one the other day. I think it was around $800. Not bad if your one of those that spends a bunch on a HD Plasma TV. Course I choose the cheap HDTV, so that is way outta my range.

Gotta wait until next year for the new tivo. It will also be able to record surround sound information, which is coo. I can imagine the price will be a lot higher than what tivos are now just because of the huge jump in information needed to be stored. This will mean way bigger hard drives and faster processors in order to compress at real time.
