Cant save pic from a website

Its newsphoto.com or something and there is this pic i want to save. But when i try to open it, it says file unknown. Is there a way the site can prevent you from saving pics. There is no file extension in the file name. What can i do to save it?

There are ways to hinder attempts to save the images... but If your browser can see them, then your computer has it, and you're in control (take a screenshot if you need to)

I use the Opera browser and it let's me save an entire page including all pictures. Including any that don't want saved. I haven't had a problem with it yet, but I'm not a frequent picture-saver either... Maybe you should try it.
See www.opera.com

As a side note: do respect other peoples privacy and copyrights. If you do that then go ahead.

if its windows OS use shift prtsc to grab the entire screen, or alt prtsc to grab the active window. then paste it into a paint program and save it.

HTML code can be programmed to prevent the viewer from saving pics on a particular web site. Usually the attempt is accompanied by a message, IE "All pics copyright JoeSchmo. Copying of pictures is prohibited" or some such. I'm sure there are ways around it, though I don't know what those are.

Opera and IE5.2 (at least on the Mac) both save webpages. Try those.

If all else fails, go with a screenshot.

your browser should have a "save as" or save page button on the file menu, try that

you could also try dragging the image to another program such as your word processor. I haven't tried this

Left click and hold on the image, then drag the cursor to the desktop. You'll need to lessen the size of the browser window so that a bit of the desktop is showing, mind you. After dragging, release the left mouse button. You *should* see that the image you want is now on your desktop.

If not, dunno. Works for me.

try renaming the file before you save it...that has worked for me in the past
