Quietest Keyboard you've used?

I'm searching for a down-right quiet keyboard. I mean the quietest you can imagine. I have grown annoyed and limited in typing when the mere clacking sound of it becomes unbearable. All suggestions are welcome..............LET'S GET ME A KEYBOARD!!

I use a Viewsonic ViewMate Slim Keyboard:

Here's a good review of it:

Its very quiet.. The keys travel a much shorter distance, like half a centimeter, so they make only a very soft noise.

It took some getting used to, since its got a compact laptop-like layout in places, but it was very well worth it, as this is the perfect keyboard for me.

I like my logitech wireless. It's quiet enough for me. I have an AMD processor in my PC tho so the cooling fans drown out any sort of sound coming from the keyboard.

When I ordered my computer, it was supposed to come with a very quiet keyboard. And admittedly, at first it did seem pretty silent, but I guess that changes over time because mine is cheap or something, but now its just as bad as any other keyboard. It really sucks.

The Wireless Microsoft Keyboard I just got has been the quietest one I have had yet.

My Dell 8200 laptop keyboard is by far the quietest thing I've ever used. Nothing else really compares to it in quietness.....but damn, that things compact and hard to use sometimes......especially when I need to bind keys to play Day of Defeat :)

My laptop keyboard started out really quiet, but with all good things, it went bad. Now it's just as bad as any other keyboard I've used, but it doesn't really bother me.

I have an IBM keyboard and I think it is pretty loud. Then again, that is how most keyboards are. I want a keyboard that makes almost no noise at all. The sound is annoying. I think that all laptops should come with silent keyboards. They are usually used in public places and the sound annoys people.

I have a very old gateway 2000 progammable keyboard that is very quiet, but its 9 years old so it may just be worn in.

Most laptops have very quiet keyboards, just due to the nature of how they're set up, but that's not really appliciable to you.

The MS Natural Keyboard Pro/etc. keyboards seem to be pretty quiet, from what I've seen. Other than that, the Viewsonic one that Nefir linked to seemed pretty nice.

The Virtually Indestructable Keyboard, or, as I call it, the Virtually Inaudible Keyboard. It is quiet enough that I can type with my mom in the next room, and she won't start yelling at me to go to sleep. It's also immune to coffee.

Side note: if you do get it, no matter how indestructable it seems, it isn't dishwasher-safe, at least according to their tech-support.

At sportchek, they have these keyboards(dunno why, maybe for 3d viewing? lol) and u dont seem to press "down" on the key. All the keys are about 5mm ridges.

I've tried one of the VIKs and it's about as close to silent as you'll find.

I personally can't -stand- quiet keyboards. I don't want mine to /click/, I want it to /clack/ or /clunk/. Most of my keyboards are older than most of my computers...and have actual keyswitch keys. none of these disposable rubberdomes for me.

The one that came with my dell was quite for about 2 months. Then it got loud. But for those two months it was very quiet.

I don't know about the quietest, but the keyboard I'm using right now has been voted the best keyboard ever constructed. It's the Dell QuietKey. It's a simple layout with adequate spacing. It doesn't make the annoying clicking noises like new keyboards. I find that the older you can find one, the better they are. I'm using one from 1995 right now and I LOVE it.

I love Nefir's Viewsonic ViewMate Slim Keyboard but I don't have enough for that now. I saw quite a few Dell Quiet Key keyboards on Ebay, *they look good*, any complaints about those?
