CD-Text
I've had several burners supporting CD-Text. However, I've not come across one single cd player or software that would support reading CD-Text from discs. What gives? Why is this technology so overlooked?

Don't most car head units that you buy (not from the car manufacturer) support this? My Alpine does and I use it constantly. The first thing I do when I buy a CD is dupe it + CD-Text. Now the real question should be "Why don't pressed CDs that I buy have CD-Text already?" Why the hell do I have to spend my time and money to add a feature that should already be included? Just my 2 cents.

The only thing I have that supports CD-Text is my Car CD player, and I love it.
I just recently upgraded to a cd-rw that supports CD-Text and any CD i burn for myself will have CD Text, just because I enjoy being able to see the song name if I dont remember the track #. However, I do agree with LNCPapa, they should put the CD-Text on CDs that you purchase. It won't cost much more and it is quite easy with the CDDB. I have come across 1 cd that had cd text. It was by accident and it was my friend's Johnny Cash album. that album rocks, by the way.

i've noticed that some cds that you purchase do have the song titles... but they most often the enhanced cds.. the ones you can pop in your cd-rom for videos and such... i have a cd player in my car that also plays mp3s. so i have about 160 songs on each of my cds... so having cd-text is pretty important for me...

As far as I know, Sony is the only major label that uses CD-TEXT on their CDs. It would make sense, considering they're the ones who invented the technology.

As noted above, car decks tend to support CD-Text. So do most "jukebox-style" players. When I burn an audio CD, I turn on CD-Text just in case.

CD Text is code included on the R-W subcode channels in the lead in info on your CD (the first 2 minutes of a CD contain the table of contents, track index, start and stop times in subcode channels called PQ data as well as the R-W subcodes which are rarely used)
