Weird boot error
I got this error when I was booting my other computer:
"Windows could not start because of the following ARC firmware boot configuration problem: did not properly generate ARC for HAL and system paths. Please check the windows documentations about ARC configuration options and your hardware reference manuals for additional information." ![]() Windows XP Pro PIII 733 MHz 768meg RAM 120 gig storage drive 8 gig boot drive Chaintec 6AJA4T mainboard Any ideas on what the problem might be? ![]()

Check and see if you've got bad RAM. I know a guy who had serious issues with his system (Windows not booting, Windows not installing, as it would claim the CD was corrupt, etc.) because of a bad stick of RAM. He even got errors in the Windows startup process telling him that his hardware was irreversibly damaged.
Replaced the stick of RAM, everything started working.
