I need some DSL advice please!

I have a DSL setup through Bell (SBC in my neighborhood). I have connected the Speedstream 5360 modem they provided to an ethernet card on my PC. Everything is usually peachy, but once in a while, I lose the conncetion for some reason. I usually have to wait a while before the server can be 'found' again. This time, it's been three days. My network card is showing a green light and my modem is too. The DSL light on the modem flashes every 30 seconds or so - I guess it's attempting to connect.

Has anyone else had similar problems with this setup?

The DSL light probably doubles as the Sync light. If that's the case, call up SBC as there may be a physical problem with your line, modem or the bits they put on the line at their end.

I had problems with my DSL when i first got it too(thru bellsouth but it was not their fault). It would loose sync for sec, min, hours, days, along with slow conect speeds(like 400kbs or less). Had one of their guys come out and look things over and he found a like 18ft of wire that the signal was not getting thru, he said he was suprised it worked at all. Been stable ever since with a constant 1.4mbs conect.

I use SBC, I had the same problem you were having, I just uninstalled their bogus software. All I need to do now is double click on the internet explorer icon and it goes right to the internet w/out any hassle-that's the way it should be.

Thanks for the suggestions. This is a fairly old house, so I'll bet it's most likely a wiring problem.
