Case mods

Is there a switch I can get for the external lights on my case... they look cool, but since I keep the case on most of the time, they are a nuiscance at night...

What kind of lights? If you have cold cathodes they should have come with a switch.

Rat shack man, all sort of switches, I'm sure they'll have something you can use (if its DC power)

I only had to connect a power cable from the lights to the ATX supply, no switch whatsoever, unless I am looking in the wrong places, I will put a pic up tommorrow.

if you are talking about the LED lights for hard drive and power, then you will more than likely need to either make your own power cables to them or splice the current ones and put a switch in between.. Or you could just disconnect them completely all the time.

granted, for leds in floppy and cd drives this is MUCH more complicated (have to crack the case open and fiddle in there).

Saw the exact thing oblar has described in the "Cool Cases" forum on HardOCP Forums. Guy in college who couldn't sleep cause the LEDs on his computer lit up his room after lights out. He wired switchs from a Fanbus between the HD and Power LED and the mobo. Both switches are outside the case so when its time to hit the sack he just flips the switch.

Um... why not just turn it off every night? Or maybe some duct tape over the LEDs?

I think maybe a standard on/off two-pole switch is all you need. Splice it into the wires between the power source and the lights.

Personally, I tape photos over my LEDs. Considering I've got about a dozen scattered around my bedroom...

I don't think he is talking about LED's, he said he plugs them into the PS. I'd recommend something from radioshack, i put about 4 in an empty bay, and use the to control lights and fan speed.
