Arrange Icons By.....
Ok, I'm running Windows XP Home Edition, and everytime I go to open a file in any program, the "Open File(s)" box appears and my files are arranged by size. I really don't like like this. I right click and go to "Arrange Icons By" and choose "Name" and it works, until I close the box and open it again. When I go to open another file its back to arranging things by size. This only happens on my settings on this computer, my brother and dad both don't have any problems with this. So does anybody know how I could fix this? It's been driving me nuts for the last few months. I can't think of anything else to do to fix it, I'm hoping you guys have some suggestions for me to try or some solutions for me. Thanks for your help.

All you need to do is make the window look the way you want, then go into Tools...Folder Options...View...and click apply to all folders. This should fix your problem.

it's while using windows explorer to open the file(s). Like when I try to open a song in winamp, the open files box that comes up is where I'm having problems. I've attached a screenshot below to maybe help people understand a little better what I'm trying to do.

Meh, when no solution presents itself, reformat :D
|
i would reformat, but I'd lose over 60GB of porn, music, art, and various other work I've done on the computer. Right now this is the only computer I have access to and I don't have enough blank CDs to back up nearly a 1/4 of it.

get the new dvd discs (i forget what type they are >_< ) but some can store up to 9.6 GB! of course, that is 4.8 GB on each side

can I use those write to those with CD Writer drive, or do I have to fork over the $250 for a DVD Writer. And formatting is kinda like a last resort type thing. Like I said, it works on every other user's settings on the same computer. Could it be something in my registry? any other ideas besides the format idea? Thanks

You can't burn DVD's in a CD burner..... you need a DVD burner, What sucks about DVD burners is they have 'one time recording' then they finalize.... so say you have a 4.7 gig DVD-R disk and you burn 2 gigs on it, that's it.... you're done, 2.7 gigs of space wasted. You have to burn 4.7 gig on the first burn to use the whole disk..... Although there is a few new DVD burners that can burn without finalizing.
