Search the forums, Dilbert. There have been a few...er... good discussions on Macs.

Fellow Mac user here, of course, with a 17 inch iMac. Welcome.

That page is crazy. chmod 666! I didn't know that I have been Unix admin'ing for Satan all these years...

Actually, chmod 666 could be considered a command of Satan. Any files with those permissions are read/writable by everyone. Not a good habit to get into.

But is this really such a shock? Lets look for a moment at Apple Computers. Founded by long haired hippies, this company has consistently supported 60's counter-cultural "values"2. But there are even darker undertones to this company than most are aware of. Consider the name of the company and its logo: an apple with a bite taken out of it. This is clearly a reference to the Fall, when Adam and Eve were tempted with an apple3 by the serpent. It is now Apple Computers offering us temptation, thereby aligning themselves with the forces of darkness.

Mac head present. Hehehe. I'm not Mac obsessed, I just got tired of my Dell computer running XP to lockup on me. So I switched and for 9 months now have really enjoyed my Apple PowerBook.

I'm sort of an X mac user. I cut my teeth on them and still really love them, but I just can't afford it. Running debian linux now. But if I did have a mac the first thing I would do would be to install http://fink.sourceforge.net/ (it might be a bit more of a pain to install than some of the software your used to, but its also the last thing you will ever need to install.

As to Apples connections with the devil we all know that steve jobs sold his soul for the "reality distortion feild" that he frequently employs no matter how hard he tries to hide his connection to the church of satan!!

Well, it is a sage iMac DV+ (G3@450), so it doesn't exactly have flames shooting out. But I have less problems with it in a month than my wife does with her Gateway (PIII@1000, WinME) in an average day.

I use Windows XP as my primary desktop and a 15" PowerBook G5 800 MHz for getting out of the offce and remote work.

I enjoy having both. And man, that PowerBook just WORKS. UNIX, Fink, and the best of native Mac apps. No screwing around with drivers for Bluetooth or WiFi. KisMAC is too much fun!
