home security system
hey everyone,
Im not sure if anyone will really be able to help me with this one, unless they are part of the security industry. At the moment our house (in sydney) is in an area that experiences a fair few break-ins. My parents have put me in charge of finding a security system. Dad's set on having one that he can check on his iphone, which makes sense as its often the case that nobody's home for weeks at a time, so if the alarm goes off and he gets a call from the security company he wont have to send me over to check on the house. Ive been looking at systems in australia, but the pricing is ridiculous compared to some of the sites ive found from the US, where it appears everything is marked up 300%. So it looks like im going to buy from one of these US stores and get it shipped over. Ive figured that we will need 6 inside camera's and 4 outside camera's and another 4 outside camera's as spares (live near the beach and im sure those cheap chinese camera's will corrode), i'll also need a dvr unit (no screen is needed), and all those little bits like cabling etc etc. My question is basically for anyone in the know about this kinda stuff, to just give me some advice and point me in the right direction. The security system world is a confusing place, they dont make it real clear what your buying and im kinda worried to drop a substantial amount of money to a US store not really knowing if im buying what i was really after. |
