Power On problem with LCD TV
Hey all,
I've got a TV that, of course, is just out of warranty and a problem has cropped up. (Philips 42 PFL5603d/27) A couple weeks ago the set simply stopped turning on. I can only turn it on by unplugging it and plugging it back in. Once it's on it works fine. If I turn it off I can turn it on again if I do so right away, but if I wait more than a few seconds it will not turn back on. Anyone on here have any experience working with LCD TVs at all or any suggestions about where I might go to look for more help? Thanks

Some TV's will power on when you power on a HDMI connected device.
I grab one of the wireless controllers for my PS3, hit the PS button and it turns my ps3 on, which in turn tells my tv to switch on. other than that I would suggest maybe a universal remote? (assuming the original isn't working or is lost?) *shrug* |

I guess I should have mentioned that I've done a bunch of research already and haven't been able to find anything. I have a PS3 and powering it on does not cause the TV to power on. The problem is not the remote as it the TV won't turn on even if i push the button on the TV itself.

Try and figure out what it isn't.
Your lamp is ok if it turns on. Your (whatever they call them) that powers the lamps are ok, Your AV control board is ok if you get a TV signal when it is on, it looks like there is something wrong with the power supply. I've had mine open before and their was a loose wire. But that would be fixable if you hit it just right. Your problem is that it works one time, so it might not be that. Something isn't getting reset when it turns off so it gets the message to turn back on when you want it to. Will it stay on a long time when it does come on? You can buy spare parts off eBay (or from the manufacture if it is a big name model) and swap them yourself. I have a power strip that I turn off and on to get around a similar problem with my 1997 amplifier. If you want an excuse to get a stereo system, the remote on my new amplifier has a wire that goes to the 'more expensive' power strip that will turn power on to other devices with one button.
