Vertical blue line on my LCD TV screen?

Please tell me that this isn't the equivalent of dead pixels or evidence my t.v. is dying...

Tonight, I turned on my t.v. in my bedroom that I got when my relationship split up a few months ago. It's a Polaroid 32" LCD/flat screen thingie television, not quite three years old. There's a vertical blue line that looks like a piece of thread hanging in front of the screen. From a bit of a distance, it looks like a piece of dark fishing line. When I first turn it on, it doesn't show on the initial screen or the blue screen. Once the picture appears (even if there is no signal on that channel) it's there. Even when I unplugged the antenna, it's still there. Is there anything I can do to figure out what is causing the problem? Or to fix it?

It's one of three decent things I have in my stupid ass apartment.
My bed, my computer and this t.v. Ugh.

I highly doubt you'll be able to do anything about it. This happens to the LCDs here at work sometimes and they have to be replaced.

The good news is that LCDs are dirt cheap now and you can find an equivalent LCD for $300ish. You should be able to get one cheaper than that this holiday season.

It's where the evil little girl all those apathetic locals let die in a well pulls, like some kind of dimensional zipper, to gain access to our world.

Does it do if you change the input to something else such as HDMI or composite?

I had this on my LCD, it is a screen failure and will likely just get bigger and bigger over time. I was lucky and was able to warranty it. To repair it you have to replace the whole screen which costs just as much as the TV....

I haven't tried that, Reese. I don't have any HDMI cables, since I've got no equipment that uses it right now, but I do have a little DVD player that I can try and see if the input changes it. I've been wondering about that.

And that's kinda what I feared, Rekna. Ugh.
