Have we talked about Dell recently?

The Dell Online Store: Build Your System

I am a bit of a Dell fanboy since they started releasing deals like this.

2.66 GHz core 2 duo
2 GB ram
vista
DVD burner
160 GB HDD
5.1 audio
keyboard
mouse
1 year warranty on the whole system
22" Samsung widescreen LCD

FOR $369!!!!!!!! Good God Almighty. This deserves to be bought just because of the outrageous deal it is....

Plus it's a Dell Vostro which is in the Small Business class. That means that they don't come with the bloatware shit that most store-bought PCs have on them.

Hate on store-bought PCs all you want but this PC would cost bare minimum $600 to build on NewEgg. And then you have to put it together. And worry about dead pixels. And worry about BSODs, and crashes, and freezing, and RMAs, DOAs, etc.

If you're not into building PCs and you just want a damn PC, this is what you should get, pronto. I've ordered 5 of these before for family members and they are simply great PCs.

They usually have the ATX case option which means you can upgrade it with a videocard if you want. Then you have a freaking gaming PC.

/fanboy mode off

My current desktop PC/gaming machine is a Vostro 410 I ordered as a deal. It came with 2.40 GHz Core2 Quad, but I paid a little extra to upgrade to the NVIDIA Geforce 8800 GT.

I saved a few hundred all said.

I'd do it again.

I agree that it is a great deal but it doesn't include a monitor. It's $679 with the 22" samsung.

That's an insane deal, Lasereth, and I'd recommend it to anyone who wants a basic PC that can be upgraded.

I don't understand why I have to add $99 to downgrade to XP. I can't be the only Vista hater here.

Vista has been standard on store bought computers for at least a year now. All of the computer manufacturers charge for XP. Out with the old and in with the new. Vista is fine now BTW.

I opened this thread ready to bash Dell with the rest of the geek squad on here... alas, that is not the case. Great deal tho, a 22' LCD and a PC for that price? Hell, I might buy one and resell the SOB to someone else. Actually.... is there a limit on how many you can buy?

I don't know but I have debated doing this for over a year now. Dell has been spouting out deals like this for at least a year, probably more like 2 years. I think you could resell these for $500 easily.

I got a CC# and sitting here wondering about doing this... it's a big investment (For someone who makes as little as I do), but drop $1500 in computers from dell and double my investment? It's possible, even doing more than double it. That 22' LCD will make people think it's worth more than it is.

Just be sure that the price is going to go back up. Otherwise you're SOL. If I were you, I might see if I could line up a buyer first, or at least a potential buyer.

I live in NC, as long as I beat the prices at walmart, I can sell these things. More if I tell people they are "Op-te-mized".

One thing to keep in mind - warranty issues. If something is fucked up on the Dell, have you voided the warranty by selling it? I don't know, but you should investigate it.

You know, my stepdad once owned a local PC repair/sales shop when I was 13 or so. He once had a "NASCAR special" pc that he sold. It a PC with a 19' CRT, gaming video card, NASCAR II video game and the driving assessory sets (Wheel, stick shift, gas pedal). It was marked up from hell and we sold a shit-ton of these things. People would walk in all the time "Ya'll got that there racing game? I want be able to drive at glen's dale." They didn't care about the PC, just the fact the could drive a 500 lap NASCAR track for hours upon end.

People here like anything associated with NASCAR, drinking beer, guns, Jesus, or Wal-Mart. If I could make a PC that you could drive a NASCAR car and it held your beer in a cooling system, I would be a fucking millionaire.

ok.. so here's what you do.

Grab a couple of these computers, rig a liquid cooling heatsink up so it can also cool down a cupholder, then paint the cases fire engine red, throw a budweiser logo on the side and pain ghost flames around it. Make the background a machine gun, and when the thing starts up, have it sound like a nascar car engine.

Millions.

oh and since it's my idea, I'm entitled to half of your earnings.

oh and since it's my idea, you're entitled to man the harpoons for the opening day of the sale. Also, I worship you and want to have your man-love-child-babies.
